Welcome to PAGMO 2025 – Fortaleza, Brazil
On behalf of the Brazilian mathematical community, we are proud and excited to host the Pan-American Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (PAGMO) 2025 in the vibrant city of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.
PAGMO celebrates the talent and brilliance of young women across the Americas, promoting excellence, collaboration, and the joy of mathematics. Each edition brings together outstanding students from different countries, united by their love for solving challenging problems and building lasting friendships.
Brazil is honoured to host this inspiring event. With a strong tradition in mathematical olympiads and a growing commitment to encouraging girls in STEM, we welcome you to join us in what promises to be an unforgettable edition.
Fortaleza, our host city, is known for its warm hospitality, stunning beaches, and rich cultural traditions. Located on the northeastern coast of Brazil, it offers over 30 km of coastline, delicious cuisine, and a lively atmosphere where sun and joy are always present. While you're here, you might even spot some of our diverse local wildlife or enjoy a traditional forró dance at sunset.

About Us
Karol Borges - General Coordinator
I’m really excited about this being a groundbreaking event here in Brazil — the very first time an international girls’ mathematics olympiad is taking place in the country. I’m even happier because we managed to bring together so many women volunteers: about 90% of the team is made up of them, with only three men on board. I’m truly thrilled that we are hosting this event, which will be unforgettable not only for these students but also for the entire community of women in mathematics in Brazil and across the Americas.
Kellem Corrêa Santos - General Coordinator
Holding PAGMO here in Brazil is like a dream come true. We are working hard and with dedication to make it unforgettable for all participants. I am super excited for this edition of PAGMO and I am sure that Fortaleza—and our team—will welcome everyone with open arms. We have some incredible surprises that I am sure everyone will love, so stay tuned! We hope to see you all here soon.
Luíze D'Urso - General Coordinator and Member of the PAGMO Advisory Board
I am responsible for the communication between the members of the PAGMO organization in Brazil and the Advisory Board, a group women from various Pan-American nationalities who have been involved with PAGMO for longer than I have. In addition, I will be in charge of the local guides, that will host each team. I have been learning a lot from this experience and I am really looking forward to PAGMO! In the meantime, we still have a lot of work to do!
Ana Paula Chaves - Chairwoman of the Jury
It is a great honor for us, who have been leading the Torneio Meninas na Matemática (TM²) in Brazil, to organize, for the very first time, an international female mathematics competition in our country. This represents not only a significant milestone for mathematics competitions in Brazil but also an inspiring step toward strengthening female participation in mathematics worldwide. For me personally, it is an even greater privilege to serve as Chairwoman of the Jury, entrusted with guiding the general discussions during the event. I take this responsibility with deep gratitude and enthusiasm, fully aware of the importance of fostering a fair, rigorous, and collaborative environment for all participants.
This achievement is the result of the tireless voluntary work of an extraordinary group of women who, for years, have dedicated themselves to creating opportunities and spaces for girls in mathematics. PAGMO 2025 is, in many ways, the culmination of these efforts — a celebration of talent, dedication, and the transformative power of collaboration.
Vitória Aparecida - Activities coordinator
PAGMO 2025 will be a memorable edition! We are working to guarantee that each activity for the girls brings relaxation before the tests and excitement after them. In both moments, participants will be surrounded by a beautiful scenery in Brazil. We hope everybody enjoy these moments of warmth and fun.
Maria Clara Werneck - Chief of Coordination
Hello, I’m very excited about this year’s organization of PAGMO! It is an event that comes to crown our efforts in organizing the national girls’ tournament (TM2)! I hope it will be a memorable olympiad, with great friendships and learning experiences in this beautiful seaside city of Fortaleza.
Stéphanie Beatriz Soares - Communications and Media Coordinator
I’m very excited for this edition of PAGMO. From a communication perspective, it will be very important to further promote scientific competitions and girls’ mathematics competitions in Brazil. We believe that the visibility of the event will have an impact not only in Fortaleza but across the entire country through the media. We are actively seeking these platforms and will give our best in this area.
October is here with a historic milestone: for the first time, Brazil will host an international mathematics olympiad for girls: Pan-American Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (PAGMO) 2025! 🇧🇷✨
